This image was one of several that Johnson James were commissioned to produce as part of a marketing package, and is a good example of our high-quality work for top-end residential projects.
We are increasingly asked to provide BIM-compatible models for our clients, based on their own surveys, or upon those commissioned by us.
We can work with 3D laser-scans, point cloud data and even photogrammetry if required. The end result is an accurate and versatile 3D model that fits straight into the architect or engineer's workflow with the minimum of fuss.
The work shown in this video was produced in Autodesk Revit format, however we can cater to other platforms.
Our work on this property has added new versatile living areas, a modern, open circulation space and brought together the component parts of the existing house into a more coherent whole, enhanced by the client's great eye for interior detailing.
Looking more like a house and less like a construction site every day, our redevelopment project in Heswall is moving on nicely, with finishing and final design options decided by the client.
Below are a few photos of the late-stage build from last month, including the preparation for under-floor heating, a new bay window and roof, and the feature courtyard.
We were asked by the owners of two adjacent cottages to help with their redevelopment. The existing cottages and their outbuildings had served as a single family holiday home for several decades and were in need of some updating. The clients also wished to return the two cottages to their original status as two separate dwellings.
After visiting the site and carrying out a detailed survey, we prepared a number of design options, aided by our standard 3D imaging service to illustrate the proposal to the client.
The final design agreed involved extensive interior changes and updates, and the conversion of a barn/workshop to the rear into a photographic studio and guest apartment, the latter to include new first floor level accommodation above the existing workshop.
Fitting all the required rooms into a relatively small footprint posed some design challenges, however these were overcome, and despite the conservation status of the area, planning and building regulations consent were achieved quickly, thanks in no small part to our sympathetic and low-impact design.
The redevelopment was also an opportunity to radically improve the energy efficiency of the buildings.
As can be seen from the photos below, the completed project looks stunning, and is a testament to the vision and good taste of the clients.
These were produced under a very tight time scale to accompany the client's revised planning application. They were the result of liaison between the architect, developer and a planning consultant over just a few days.
Images of this type can help create a positive result with planners and planning committees.
Construction is progressing well on our client's project in Tower Road, Heswall, despite the rather challenging weather.
Foundations were laid just over three weeks ago, and roof joinery is already under way.
When complete the redevelopment will provide a feature hallway, new porch area with storage, a semi-contained courtyard and a larger lounge, and will also increase the thermal performance of the building.
Here's a recently-completed photomontage image for a client in Surrey.
This image was required at very high resolution for a construction site hoarding and consequently was modelled in great detail, right down to the individual roof tiles.
It was also lit from behind by the sun, which made it a little more challenging to match to the base photograph, which illustrates the importance of obtaining the best sun position in photos, where possible.
Photomontage images are the best way to visualise a building's effect on its surrounding context. This type of image involves taking a photograph of the existing site into which a render of a computer-generated model is inserted (composited).
We have provided photomontage images to a wide variety of clients, from architects to developers to individuals - we also use them for our own design projects, where they have shown themselves to be an extremely effective tool for quick, concise illustration of a proposal
